Biography

As vice president for university relations, Paul Jones leads many of Marquette University’s external-facing functions, including marketing, communication, public affairs, and corporate and community engagement. The mission of the Office of University Relations is to serve the Marquette community as strategic partners, connectors, and storytellers, with the ultimate purpose of elevating the Marquette brand to transform lives. As general counsel, Paul is responsible for the management and operation of the Office of the General Counsel, which provides legal representation, advice and services on all legal matters affecting the university and its employees.

Prior to joining Marquette, Paul spent 10 years as an executive officer at Harley-Davidson Inc., serving as the company’s vice president and chief legal officer, as well as in other strategic business roles. Paul previously served as vice president and general counsel at Regal-Beloit Corp. in Beloit, Wisconsin, and was a partner at the law firm Foley & Lardner LLP in Milwaukee.

Paul earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and his law degree from Georgetown University and holds advanced degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Oxford. He currently serves as chair of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation board of directors and serves on the board of directors of the Menomonee Valley Partners. He has been recognized as a “Diversity Champion” and “Top Corporate Counsel” by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
