Biography

Attorney Matt Banker is a 20-plus year veteran of the college athletics industry. Matt's stops include administrative roles at the NCAA national office, the NCAA Eligibility Center, the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), and the University of Louisville Athletics Department. Matt's roles have included supporting multiple sports as sport administrator, leading a Division I university's Name/Image/Likeness (NIL) program and operations, providing leadership on NCAA compliance and legal matters for Division I coaches, student-athletes, and administrators, stewarding university and conference-level legislative positions on NCAA proposals and policies, and serving on multiple University, ACC, OVC, and NCAA committees including Chair of the Division I Legislative Council.  

In 2022, Matt moved into consulting full-time in the college and high school sports sectors.  Matt's consulting focus includes supporting student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, coaches, administrators, universities, conferences, and sport associations on a variety of recruiting, NIL, eligibility, compliance, legal, scholarship, waivers, and career guidance. Matt serves as Senior Advisor to the Church, Church Hittle & Antrim Law Firm's Sports Law Group. Matt has also taught undergraduate, graduate, and law school-level NCAA compliance and governance courses at Belmont University and the University of Louisville. 

Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Thomas and his J.D. from Marquette University.
