Overview

Enhancing the already extensive classroom and clinical opportunities available through Marquette Law School's Program in Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Restorative Justice Initiative will benefit students, practitioners, and victim advocacy groups as well as those involved with the penal system.

Restorative Justice is a victim-centered response to crime that focuses on the harm caused by offenders, as well as the need for healing of victims and community, while requiring the offenders to take responsibility for their actions. It views criminal acts more comprehensively than our judicial system because it recognizes how offenders harm victims, communities, and even themselves by their actions.

Spearheaded by Distinguished Professor of Law and former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janine P. Geske, the Restorative Justice Initiative features:

All organizations and law schools are encouraged to send information about their restorative justice programs, including brochures and forms, to be included in a permanent resource collection at the Marquette University Law School.
